T - 17 days until we board a plane to Thailand for the adventure of a lifetime. The bags are packed and passports are ready. The blog is up and running so that we have a place to post our travel stories as we navigate about. I have visions swimming in my head of what this might be like. I'm most curious about the toilets and something affectionately known as "Thai-tummy". Now I pride myself on being an adventuresome eater and Joey has re-assured me that we aren't the kind of people who get this "Thai-tummy". He says it's the people that are only used to eating very Americana food that have this problem but, nevertheless, we are taking our tums as suggested by our fellow travelers. I've also taken to ordering more frequently from our favorite local Indian, Thai, and Chinese cuisine thus preparing myself for the radical spice shift. I know, that's just pure silliness but hey, what's a girl to do!
It has also been suggested that we take toilet paper in our backpacks. Apparently you have to PAY for toilet paper in some places less use the "bucket and left hand technique!" No thank you, I have purchased 2 mini rolls of travel TP from my neighborhood REI to avoid this tragedy. The rest of the culture I'm prepared to embrace but not the left hand poopy wiper, no thank you!
So, that's where we stand. I'm still trying to figure out if I have room for a small ball of yarn and knitting needles for the flights out and back. 23 hours is a long time for just reading and I have a hard time sitting still for movies unless I'm doing something else at the same time. I still find it funny that you can take bamboo knitting needles on a plane but not fingernail clippers. Actually, I think you can take those now but you get the point.
